[The Story of Technology | Episode 25] Why is this technology spreading?

There's a question I get asked quite often.

"Is that device patented?"
"Will any competitors emerge?"
"What will you do if someone copies you?"

My answer might be a little surprising.

I believe this device will eventually be copied.

And that's not a bad thing.

Rather, I
I hope others will actively try to imitate this technology.

Because this field
Because it's not a market that can be monopolized by a single company.

Water, air, energy.

These are the foundations of humanity.

If the manufacturer that makes this technology
Even if 100 companies were to be established worldwide,
There is still plenty of market space.

The device itself may be copied.
However, the manufacturing cost of the equipment doesn't vary significantly from place to place.

What's really important is,

Experience to optimize for each site and
This is know-how accumulated over many years.

And that is,
Within one person or one company
It doesn't grow.

So I,
New partners
I intend to share all my know-how and experience.

They will become manufacturers that produce the equipment.
And I am in it.

However, my headquarters is
They make far less profit than they do.

Because the purpose
Rather than maximizing profits,

Because it's an expansion of technology.

And even sooner,
Even better general-purpose equipment
It will be possible to share it with all partners.

This is how it is born,
It's not just one company.

It's a small tech community.

It's a bit like a franchise.
However, it's a more free and collaborative approach.

A small team
They are born in various places around the world.

Quietly, slowly.

But definitely.

And then one day,
People might notice.

This technology
In many places around the world
It's used naturally.

It is not a controlled market.

This is the result of shared technology spreading.

Technology is not something to be protected.
I believe that things gain value through their widespread adoption.
